Ode to a brand new season
Ode to a new season of life! It has been wonderful. Ups and downs and all arounds, the Lord has been SO gracious. Before I start rambling, Christa I just read your blog about Deo and with tears immidiately thank the Lord for His provision throughout this process. Rocky and I are praying hard for him and for you as a family as this transitional period of life is coming up. We love you SO MUCH and Im so exited that you know his name and are starting to get closer and closer to having him home. Rocky is at work still, and I cant wait till he comes home so I can tell him!
We just got back from a backpacking trip to Monkman Lake in British Columbia and had a great time. Rockys cousin Derek and his wife Natasha came up from Saskatchewan and we hiked out on Friday, came back on Monday. Oh it was so fun. The majority of the time Rocky and I hiked together and Derek and Natasha hiked together and I found in so many ways that I just enjoyed being with Rocky while we were hiking. To be able to see the more silly things, the random things, the little things that he does has been so good for me. Not only have we begun the journey of learning how to be married, but in the process we are becoming better best friends. I love it.
A week or so ago, we all of a sudden found ourselves very seperate. It reminded me of "creeping seperatness" as my parents call it. One every day thing after another, and before realizing it was even happening, we had no idea where the others heart was. It was a good couple days of struggle for me, to come before the Lord and cry. With a sincere heart and an openness that I dont know if I would have had otherwise. Like in 1 Samuel, Israel loses the ark of the covenant and during that time, people truly seek the Lord because of their adversity.
BLESSINGS. There are so many reasons why in our lives we have been counting our blessings. Seeeing them from back to front and realizing deeply how concerned the Lord is for His people. Humbling. Pakistan is underwater and God provides means to fix our car? Its been a struggle for me to not jump on the "get rid of everything" minimalist bandwagon just for the sake of a clearer conscience. That sounds harsh, but you know what I mean? In this culture, in this time, Lord what is our place? How do we love your people here in Ridgevalley? You are our LORD who judges not our outward appearance, but our hearts; give us hearts that honor you wherever we are.
